To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/18/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization which equips you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Laundry Operations Specialist, GS-11 position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience include but are not limited to: Serves as a liaison on several committees to obtain results that are consistent with the mission, vision, values and goals of the service. Prepares and manages budget and analyze cost of expenses in the operation of the service. Practice and support all existing safety regulations relevant to this position. Evaluates, develops and recommends adjustments to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the service. Maintain frequent contact with other service lines and external vendors regarding supply needs. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related (Transcript required). OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond successfully completed graduate education (above a master’s degree) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total requirements for this grade level. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. (Transcript required). Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Regular and recurring work involves considerable physical exertion of walking, driving, bending and lifting moderately heavy equipment or other items weighing less than 50 pounds. May be required to walk, drive in inclement weather from building to building or from Medical Center to various locations. The work involves regular and recurring exposure to moderate risks and discomforts associated with exposure to strong odors from chemicals of Hypochloride Solution, Flexyte, TB-Quat used in work processes and noise working near operating machinery. The work situation requires the employee to continually stay alert and take special safety precautions, including wearing personnel protective equipment. . This position requires some travel. This position is the Laundry Plant Manager, Environmental Management Services, VA Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Florida. The Medical Center is a large, complex and modern affiliated 269 bed facility consisting of over 2,410 employees, involving a wide spectrum of professional, technical and administrative occupants. The facility is comprised of 149 bed General Medicine, Surgical and Psychiatric Medical center, and 120 bed Nursing Home Care Unit.
