Candidates must meet the Qualifications Standards Handbook requirements for the NF-1016-12. For this position, specialized experience is at least one year of curatorial experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, coordinating the transfer of works of art between museums or cultural institutions. Other Relevant Eligibility Criteria: Work requires mobility to move frequently around and between two buildings. Must be able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds. Must be able to ride for long periods in Gallery and commercial vehicles while escorting works of art. Travel is required (up to 25%). Must pass the TSA Security Threat Assessment. An equivalent combination of education and experience is fully qualifying and meets the minimum qualification requirements. Loan Administration – Skill in researching and managing loan requests. Logistics – Skill in writing, developing, and carrying out operational plans. Communication – Ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences about the loan process. “Experience” refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Division of Registration and Loans (CRL-LS) is responsible for properly carrying out collection management activities, maintaining and updating records on all works of art owned by or entrusted to the care of the National Gallery, and for the location, condition, safety, and movement of those works of art.
