ARCHIVES TECHNICIAN (OA)

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices in the archival profession. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Providing reference and research services including reviewing incoming requests to locate records in both hard copy and electronic record systems; 2) Organizing, arranging, preserving and maintaining a major body of records to include references and related instructional materials; 3) Entering archive collection documentation into automated databases; 4) Preparing archival records, such as document descriptions, to allow easy access to information. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying an understanding of creation, organization, use and disposition of official and historical records. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Performing archival duties including accessioning, arranging, evaluating, indexing, describing and preserving records; 2) Communicating both orally and in writing for the purpose of providing data on historical record and responding to inquiries; 3) Using electronic records management system to arrange and preserve electronic records; 4) Interpreting policies, guides, procedures, regulations, and precedents to new or unique situations.
