This announcement uses the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): The ability to perform the work of a Bridge Mechanic Helper (MVO) independently without more than normal supervision to include tasks such as: performing various repair work, and/or safely operate and maintain small power and hand tools and/or ability to operate pickup trucks, sedans, or flatbed trucks – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works in cramped and hard to reach places. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently required to lift, carry, and set up materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and over. The incumbent exerts moderate physical effort in operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed outdoors and at considerable heights. Danger of serious cuts, bruises and broken bones and falls from high places exists. Use of protective clothing and respirator is required when sandblasting. Subject to skin and eye irritations when using solvents and painting.
About the Position: This position is located in Operations Division, Chesapeake City Project Office, Bridge and Electrical Team. This position will be filled in Chesapeake City, Maryland.
