Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify at the GS-05 you must meet one of the following: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing janitorial duties within the facility to include the involvement of Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) chemical waste and/or contaminating substances. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related to the position to be filled. OR Education: The successful completion of a full course of study of at least 12 months in a school for clinical laboratory technicians. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. To qualify at the GS-06 you must meet one of the following: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing janitorial duties within the facility to include the involvement of HAZMAT chemical waste and/or contaminating substances; 2) ensuring that the environment is maintained in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition; AND 3) performing cleaning and stocking of admin, restrooms, and common areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. To qualify at the GS-07 you must meet one of the following: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing janitorial duties within the facility to include the involvement of HAZMAT chemical waste and/or contaminating substances; 2) ensuring that the environment is maintained in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition; 3) performing cleaning and stocking of admin, restrooms, and common areas; 4) managing hazardous waste according to current regulatory guidance; AND 5) labeling, transporting, storing, tracking, and inspection of hazardous waste and temporary storage sites. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
About the Position: Assist the Chief of Engineering in various areas of the forensic/research laboratories within U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID). These labs require hospital-grade cleaning to ensure that evidence processing areas are not subject to contamination, which would affect the level/quality of examinations being conducted. CIDs forensic labs are secure facilities, requiring attention and compliance with specific physical and personnel security requirements.
