You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes, 1) Working knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy; 2) Coding physician professional services, to include ambulatory procedures, inpatient or/and outpatient professional services, consultations, clinic and emergency department visits; and 3) Reviewing medical records for accuracy in a hospital setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency Atlantic Network, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Directorate of Administration, Medical Coding, analyzing and abstracting records and codling physician professional services, working in an office setting. Working hours will be 7 AM to 4 PM. Incumbent can expect to achieve increased skill level in medical coding arena. This is not a Medical Records or a Medical Billing position.
