However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrician (MVO) without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common/complex preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical equipment (circuits, instruments, meters, relays, gauges, carrier units, control systems, transformers, motors, generators, and switch gear apparatus) at Navigational Facilities, Flood Risk Management Projects, Navigation Projects, locks, dams, and various water control structures. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort:Work requires frequent standing, stooping, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally lifts and carries larger assemblies or complete units exceeding 50 pounds with assistance. Uses coordination of eyes, hands, legs, and body in installing, repairing, operating, or testing equipment in confined spaces such as manholes, machinery recesses, outlet stilling basin walls, or on overhead structures; climbs ladders, scaffolding, and works from suspended stages. Working Conditions:Works inside and outside during the day or night, subject to inclement weather, on high structures usually over water which is frequently turbulent, in the proximity of moving machinery and high traffic and noise areas. Employees are required to follow established safe working procedures. Appropriate personal protective equipment is provided to minimize or reduce hazardous conditions, and its use is mandatory.
