In addition to the basic education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below: To qualify for the GS-15 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-14 level defined as providing advice, mentorship, or guidance to staff; presenting technical information to various internal and external personnel evaluating technology policy issues and activities relating to information management; and identifying Information Technology problems and making recommendations for improvement. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Skill in written communication Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate technology policy issues and activities relating to information management Ability to identify new opportunities to develop or improve products or services Knowledge of networking, telecommunication, and information security services, including design, configuration, installation, operation, and administration Skill in oral communication Ability to ensure the exercise of sound contracts management and fiduciary controls throughout the procurement lifecycle Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with people from varied backgrounds Ability to make work assignments, set staff goals and objectives, evaluate performance, and determine responsibilities and priorities for assigned staff Ability to evaluate technical information related to the job and advise others on technical issues Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
