Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing support work in connection with processing and maintaining medical records for compliance with regulatory requirement; extracting data for statistical reports; using the International Classification of Diseases, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) to code and classify diagnoses, the Procedural Coding System (CPT) to describe medical, surgical and diagnostic services and procedures using precise medical terminology for accurate coding to describe medical, surgical, and diagnostic services and procedures. Certification from American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders is highly desired. One of the following certifications below, while not required, is highly desirable: American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P). Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
About the Position: This position is located in the Madigan Army Medical Center Office of Patient Administration Records, Tacoma, Washington.
