To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications and Selective Placement Factor stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-12:Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Providing a full range of professional clinical behavioral health services of complex technical difficulty including evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, counseling, referral, psychotherapy, crisis intervention and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders to patients and families. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: In addition to the minimum requirements, the following license is determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of a particular position. Applicants who do not meet a selective placement factor are ineligible for further consideration. Applicant must possess the ability to independently practice mental behavioral health as evidence by possession of one of the following licenses: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Psychologist, And Regardless of Licensure, applicant must possess the ability to function independently to provide care for mental health and substance abuse disorders per the states scope of practice. (Must attach copy of licensure to application.) Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
This position is located at the Desert Visions Youth Wellness Center (DVYWC), Behavioral Health Department located in Sacaton, AZ. The primary role of the counselor will focus on treating substance use disorder, while also focusing on co-occurring disorders that clients may present with upon entering treatment. The position duties include psycho-educational services, prevention, treatment, aftercare, training, intervention, assessment, referrals, and multidisciplinary consultative services.
