SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Supply Technician (Medical) position. Specialized experience includes: Experience interpreting policies, procedures, manuals and regulations pertaining to supply/inventory management. Experience with automated inventory systems. Experience doing stock rotation, hazard alerts and recalls to ensure outdated or compromised supplies and materials. Experience using medical and surgical terminology established work methods. Experience using different methods of communication methods, written and oral to communicate with a variety of individuals. -OR- EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. -OR- COMBINATION (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)Possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and post high school education as described above that demonstrates my ability to perform the duties of this position. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With proper assistance, may move heavier items that weigh over 40 pounds. This position serves as Supply Technician (Medical) for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System. As a Supply Technician, you will provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment.
