Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess either: 1) Degree: geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields; OR 2) Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. To be considered for GS-12: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Using qualitative and quantitative methods to assess and improve program effectiveness and complex management processes and systems; 2) Conducting independent or coordinates studies to identify, recommend or evaluate solutions to significant complex and sensitive significant management problems; 3) Performing spatial data collection using Global Positioning System (GPS) or remote sending techniques; 4) Applying geographic techniques to advise stakeholders on the merits of proposed Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM). To be considered for GS-11: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Maintaining a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) database in support of region customers; 2) Developing program policy and guidance procedures to govern initiatives and policies for assigned programs; and 3) Coordinating project activities in the area of Geographical Information System (GIS) technology to support work efforts.
