MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: There is no specific length of training or experience required: However, applicants will be rated on the basis of their responses to the Occupation Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties this position without normal supervision, and the information contained in their resume. Your resume must demonstrate the specialized experience obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Must have the basic knowledge of installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment. Examples of these are secondary power distribution lines and circuits used to supply a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase and frequency requirements, to distribution panels, switchgear, power and control circuits, industrial multiphase systems; thermocouple sensors; electrical intrusion alarm and fire alarm system; emergency warning systems; lighting protection systems; high intensity lighting systems with associated controls and related electrical equipment. Licensed Journeyman Electrician from Any State preferred. Physical Effort: Incumbent will be required to crawl, climb and perform work indoors and outdoors. Incumbent must be active, walking, bending, climbing and perform medium to heavy lifting. Position requires standing, stooping and bending. Work is at a desk as well as within and outside the Facility. Some work is performed on ladders and scaffolds that requires work to be performed overhead or in stretched, cramped or awkward positions. May occasionally lift and carry items that weight over 40 pounds. Also subject to the danger of electrical shock and injury form power driven equipment. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside in all kinds of weather. Work is primarily in a construction type setting, although there are frequent visits to offices, patient rooms, and construction sites involving exposure to adverse weather, high noise levels, and hazardous conditions. Is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises and burns. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
This position is located in the Maintenance Section, Facilities Management Branch, Division of Administration Services, Shiprock Service Unit, Shiprock, New Mexico. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Journeyman Electrician in performing electrical maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and installation within the facilities of Shiprock Service Unit.
