Qualifications for the position are based on the training, experience, or other requirements that determine which applicants would be able to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled. To qualify for the WG-08, your experience should include experience equal or equivalent to the following: The ability to assist in operating Vacuum Switches, power distribution centers, control power transformers, electrical lockouts, mechanical lockouts, time over current relays, instantaneous ground sensors, ground monitor relays and all other electrical components associated with these types of electrical systems. Your application will also be rated on the following job elements: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision Troubleshooting (electrical) Knowledge of electrical equipment Ability to use electrical drawings Ability to provide production support services Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). This position is located in the National Defense Reserve Fleet (NDRF), Office of Ship Operations, Office of the Associate Administrator for National Security, Maritime Administration (MARAD). The National Defense Reserve Fleet (NDRF) is the anchorage site for numerous laid-up of merchant and military ships of all types and designs that are maintained according to their assigned status in an appropriate seaworthy condition.
