(Must submit transcripts) – SEE REQUIREMENTS IN EDUCATION SECTION In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements listed in the education section, applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying: GS-05: Applicants who meet the basic requirement are qualified at the GS-05 grade level. (You must submit transcripts) GS-07: You must meet one of the following: A. One full year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, performing duties such as: Assisting engineers or field personnel in the planning, design and construction of engineering practices such as water management, animal waste management, erosion control, flood control, wetland creation or restoration, and other conservation practices; Assisting engineers or field personnel with field investigations and surveys needed for the implementation of conservation programs; and Assisting with collecting and processing field data for engineering projects. A bachelor’s degree in engineering AND meet one of the following Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) Provisions: Maintained a grade-point average of “B” (a GPA of 3.0 or higher) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. (You must submit transcripts) Maintained a grade-point average “B+” (a GPA of 3.5 or higher) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. (You must submit transcripts) Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university, or major subdivision. (You must submit transcripts) Be a member of a national honor (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Please submit a college transcript(s) showing your grade point average for all four years of undergraduate study, including all transferred courses. NOTE: GPA’s are rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9. If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail or similar basis, your claim must be based on class standing or membership in an honor society. One year (18 semester hours) of graduate level education in engineering or a closely related field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully complete the work of the position. (You must submit transcripts) D. A combination of specialized experience as described in ‘A’ and graduate level education as described in ‘C’ that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. (You must submit transcripts) E. Have successfully completed a five-year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor’s degree in engineering. (You must submit transcripts) F. Have an engineering bachelor’s degree AND have appropriate specialized experience as an Engineering Technician equivalent to grade GS-05 or higher. (You must submit transcripts) GS-09: You must meet one of the following: A. One full year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, performing duties such as: Assisting with designs, drawings, and specifications on engineering practices with natural resources conservation; Collecting field data to ensure adequacy of the data; and Participating in meetings regarding engineering projects in collaboration with other personnel. At least 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree OR master’s degree or higher in engineering or a closely related field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully complete the work of the position. (You must submit transcripts) C. A combination of specialized experience as described in A and graduate level education as described in B that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. A bachelor’s degree in Engineering with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) and have one year of professional engineering experience. Professional engineering experience is defined as non-routine engineering work that required professional knowledge of engineering; professional ability to apply such knowledge to engineering problems; and positive and continuing development of professional knowledge and ability. This position is located in a USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service state, area, or field office within the State of Nevada. The incumbent assists the area/zone or similar engineer and is responsible for providing basic technical guidance and in-the overall planning, design, installation, and maintenance of the engineering phases of soil and water conservation practices. An incentive of up to $7,500 per year for 3 years may be offered, if determined eligible at the time of selection.
