Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE Leading or supervising work performed by subordinates; planning division of workload based on capabilities of available employees, workplace conditions, and priority of projects. Leading or supervising work performed by subordinates evaluating skills of the team members and seeking guidance and advice from the trade (non fabric worker) expert or trade supervisor. Leading or supervising processes involved in the fabric worker trade while initiating any necessary corrective actions to overcome delays in project completion. Knowledge of all materials used in a given line of work. Knowledge of trade theory and up-to-date trade practices. Fabricates tools/fixtures/gages with critical dimensions. Ability to work independently, make decisions, plan operations, show job responsibility, and exercise initiative. Follows written directions from supervisor and work orders, Manufacturers’ guides, catalogues, technical manuals, bulletins, codes, drawings, blueprints, charts, and maps. Completes maintenance work on tools and equipment including preventive maintenance, grinding, and setting tools, etc. Makes adjustments on equipment to operating tolerances. Ability to use measuring devices for determining where to cut, how to fit, how to mark material, etc. Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations. You will serve as a CONTAINMENT FABRICATOR SUPERVISOR in the Production Resources Department (Code 900), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Shop (Code 990), Emergency Services of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
