Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Laborer ~ without more than normal supervision. Performing common duties such as using a variety of common hand tools, such as hatchets saws, tampers, rakes, and shovels in performing simple maintenance or repair jobs and/or assisting others in more complex and demanding tasks such as moving earth or sand; setting forms and mixing and pouring concrete; lubricating equipment; and similar tasks. Move and arrange furniture. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort Work requires continuous standing, walking, stooping, bending, etc. Lifts, carries, loads, unloads and moves materials, supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions Works around water, with majority of work being performed outside in all kinds of weather. Work is by nature dirty, dusty and may require working around or with noisy equipment. Work around tools and equipment requires care and attention to safety practices prescribed, in order to avoid injury to self or others and/or damage to equipment. NOTE: Employees are required to observe established safe working procedures. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is provided to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions, and its use is mandatory. NOTE: Incumbent must be qualified to drive Government vehicles in accordance with Corps of Engineers standards.
