BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): OPM Link (See Clerical and Administrative Support Positions): General Schedule Qualification Standards (opm.gov) In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-04: one year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-04 level. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: audits denied and rejected billing claims; reconciles medial billing accounts, posts and adjust medical payments, knowledge of medical terms, completes special projects within required time frame; prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Correcting billing of accounts previously submitted and resubmit to payer; verify the accuracy of payment history for the period involved, determines the extent of underpayment or overpayment; reviews and examines various bill types of patient care to third party payers; prepare reports reflecting the examination made, discrepancies noted, and the corrective entries required adjusting accounts. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
This position is located in the Patient Accounts Section of the Facility Business Office at the PHS Indian Hospital, Pine Ridge, SD. The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Third Party Reimbursement Program. The work requires analytical ability, judgment, discretion and knowledge of substantial body of administrative or program principles, concepts, policies and objectives.
