Fire Protection Specialist

To qualify for the GS-7 level: You must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal Service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: conducting surveys of facilities to identify fire risks; compiling data for use in developing reports and written materials on fire protection an life safety programs; Conducting fire hazard analysis of special event locations (tents or other locations) to identify fire hazards prior to event. To qualify for the GS-9 level: You must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal Service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: administering fire protection and safety programs for an organization; conducting technical research to support higher grade staff in analyzing fire protection programs and issues; reviewing and providing input on fire protection policies and procedures; drafting reports and written materials on fire protection and life safety programs and issues; and coordinating fire protection and life safety programs with internal staff. To qualify for the GS-11 level: You must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal Service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: administering fire protection and safety programs in a biomedical research environment; conducting studies and analyses of fire protection programs and issues; monitoring compliance of work practices and procedures with fire protection policies and procedures; preparing reports and other written materials on fire protection and life safety programs and issues; and coordinating fire protection and life safety programs and issues with internal staff and external organizations.
