Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. For GS-9 Specialized Experience: Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes the following. Perform a variety of developmental tasks for subjects such as environmental conservation, compliance (e.g., hazardous waste management), restoration, planning, and/or pollution prevention. . Research and provide information for current environmental laws, regulations, and policies for things such as Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERLCA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), and/or the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Use Federal, state and local laws and regulations related to environmental protection issues. OR Have successfully completed a Master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or completion of all requirements for an LL.B or J.D. degree from an accredited college or university. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required three years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). For GS-11 Specialized Experience: Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes the following. Support the organization through completing more complex assignments such as planning, directing, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and providing technical guidance for the installation’s environmental protection programs to ensure compliance with laws, policies, and regulations such as ESA, NEPA, NHPA, CERCLA, RCRA, CAA, CWA, SDWA, and/or TSCA. Perform environmental inspections and assist in the correction of inspection findings and proposes actions to resolve deficiencies. OR Have successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. OR Have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required three years.
