Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Basic Educational Requirements AND (2) Specialized Experience for the series/grade to which you are applying. (1) Basic Occupational Requirement for Training Specialist (1712): A. Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study — education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. -OR- B. Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying Specialized Experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. **In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, applicants must meet the Specialized Experience described below. ** (2) Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-13, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Preparing and editing training materials to ensure effective content, grammar, punctuation, and style; Utilizing web-based tools and equipment including Ancile UPerform to author, develop, edit and present training materials; Experience converting complex technical concepts into clear and concise language; AND Utilizing technical skills to prepare video scripts, create multimedia content and design visual aids for training materials.
