You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Visual Information Series, 1084 Basic Requirement: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study — commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. In addition to the basic requirements above you must also meet the following Specialized Experience. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-13. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience advising senior leadership and management officials on visual information strategies, designs, products and services. Experience using knowledge of multimedia communications products and services to support an organization’s mission and objectives through engaging visuals and storytelling. Experience fostering and maintaining constructive working relationships, and effectively and efficiently communicating both orally and in writing with a variety of internal executive officials, managers, and staff. Experience prioritizing competing multimedia or audio/visual projects to make most effective use of limited resources. This position is located in the Office of the Chief Communications Officer (OCCO), United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The OCCO is responsible for all aspects of the agencys public affairs and communication outreach activities. The office responds to all press inquiries and distributes the USPTO Weekly employee newsletter; provides photographic coverage of agency activities, ceremonies, and events; and, in partnership with the Web Executive Board, manages the USPTO website.
