For the GS 5: You must have one-year specialized experience at the GS-04 grade level or equivalent which includes: 1) maintaining files or generating correspondence with internal or external customers; 2) updating personnel records containing sensitive information; 3) reviewing documents for accuracy prior to entering information into a database. OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (You must submit Transcripts). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (You must submit Transcripts). Merit promotion applicants must meet the time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-4 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS5 level. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
As a Security Assistant at the GS-0086-5, you will be part of Suitability Executive Agent Programs, Office of Personnel Management. If selected, you will be responsible for interacting with other Federal Agencies to provide technical advice or to coordinate and take suitability actions.
