Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Supervisor (Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. ???????Ability to provide performance standards; counsel employees on performance; perform field-level maintenance operations and repair on heavy mobile equipment and vehicles; troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to diagnose repair; replace and repair parts on mechanical and electrical systems on vehicles and equipment. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Lead or Supervise Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Troubleshooting Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort – Work requires frequent and prolonged standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing and crouching. Works on top of, under, or in tight compartments of equipment in cramped and awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and often exert similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts assemblies, and equipment. Occasionally lifts heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists and cranes. Work is sometimes performed from ladders or work platforms at varying heights. Working Conditions – Work is performed inside and outside. When inside, individual is exposed to drafts, hot and cold shops, changing temperatures and noise which is difficult to talk above. When outside, individual is exposed to inclement weather working in heat, mud or snow and in wet or icy areas. Whether inside or outside, exposure to irritations and discomfort from fumes, dust, dirt, oil and grease is common. Frequently work is performed using parts and on systems which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Subject to cuts, bruises, abrasions, burns, chemical irritations, electrical shock, and injuries from falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Individual must follow prescribed safety practices and use safety equipment such as protective ear devices, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, gloves, respirators and protective clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use, and may be worn or used for long periods

About the Position: The position is located at the Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Fleet Management Expansion (FMX), Fort Moore, GA. Fort Moore is located 100 miles south of Atlanta, GA, and adjacent to Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training.
