PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF)(Title 5)

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess one of the following: 1.) A Degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position; -or- 2.) A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences; -or- 3.) Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 12 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-09). Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Experience, education or training analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various social science resources. Experience demonstrating knowledge of the organization and its mission and utilized the organizational staff procedures. Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of social science program operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Primary Prevention efforts. Knowledge of social-ecological systems theory. Knowledge and experience in the organization, management, and administration of programs and services to participate in program planning. Skill in development and maintenance of public understanding and sound working relationships with local and community agencies. Skill in applying professional community organization abilities related to the formulation of needs assessments, development of prevention programs, and the marketing of programs. Knowledge of complex helping systems and professional organizations, how they positively or negatively affect individual and family welfare, and the multiple ways these systems and organizations operate to deliver services. Skill in oral and written communication to include report writing and maintaining proper records to document services provided. Knowledge of and skill in planning, conducting and evaluating Primary Prevention training programs. Knowledge of the regulations, policies, and precedents that are used for developing the action plans to implement approved prevention strategies. Ability to plan and adequately support the needs of National Guard members by determining what the future needs of the Service Member are through the interpretation and analysis of studies, and trends. Knowledge of policies and requirements for the development and analysis of the Prevention Programs efforts in order to integrate effective prevention measures. Knowledge of automated data systems to maintain information. Knowledge of analytical techniques to identify, analyze and/or recommend solutions to problems encountered and to develop Statistical data and narrative reports. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION DUTY LOCATION: J9, Hartford, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area I: All On Board Federal Employees (T5), Tenure 0,1,2,3 within the CTNG with U.S. citizenship. Area II: All On Board Federal Dual-Status Military Technicians (T32), Tenure 0,1,2,3 within the CTNG with U.S. citizenship. Area III: All current and former members of the Connecticut National Guard with U.S. citizenship.
