If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected. To qualify, you must meet the Basic Eligibility Requirements. A bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or A bachelor’s degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene; or Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH). In addition to the basic requirements stated above, applicants must meet specialized experience requirements, in order to be qualified for this position. Specialized experience is at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 level independently conducting surveys/inspections based upon compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations including on-site federally-owned and leased space, and environmental sampling (quantitative and qualitative) in order to evaluate chemical, physical, biological or mechanical (HVAC systems) stresses; and preparing written reports based upon the analysis of the data acquired and the prediction of probable effects of exposures on the health and well-being of workers. Such experience must also include development of recommendations encompassing engineering, administrative or personal controls with special emphasis on asbestos control, abatement and monitoring. You will serve as an Industrial Hygienist technical expert with responsibility for the planning, management, and direction of the facility industrial hygienist programs for all GSA-owned, operated and leased buildings within the region. Location of position: Public Buildings Service, Facilities Management Division in Dallas, TX or Fort Worth, TX. We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.
