Biological Science Technician

Only experience and education obtained by the closing date 11/12/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position, you must possess the Minimum Qualification. Minimum Qualification [GS-6] Possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that was equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities needed in order to successfully perform the duties of this position and that was in the same field or field directly related to this position. Examples of specialized experience may include: conduct vegetation studies; apply herbicides; conduct surveys of wildlife and/or waterfowl; capture, handle, and tag a variety of wildlife; use various computer software to enter biological data into existing databases; gather biological data, evaluate data and present findings in report form. NOTE: Your resume must contain sufficient detail at this level of work, e.g., begin/end dates, hours worked per week, duties performed, etc. for each timeframe for consideration. There is no education substitution at the GG-6 grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is a Biological Science Technician, GS- 0404-6 working in Seneca Falls, NY for the R5-Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge. The duties of this position encompass biological studies including wildlife and plant surveying; biological data management and reports; providing information to various groups; operating various equipment. This is a temporary position expected to last 1 Year but may be extended up to a total of 2 years at managements discretion.
