Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks such as operating a motor vehicle loaded with cargo and completing inventories of warehouse items. I can receive incoming shipments from postage carriers and place stock in permanent storage locations. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (other than blueprints) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires standing, bending, walking, stooping, lifting, and carrying items weighing up to 60-70 pounds. Receives assistance from other materials handlers when moving items over 70 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside in areas which may be hot, cold, or drafty. Occasionally exposed to bad weather conditions and possible injury from falling or dropped stock when loading or unloading vehicles.
About the Position: The Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator) performs warehouse inventory, loading and unloading cargo, receiving and shipping items, and cargo transportation tasks for the Lyster Army Health Clinic and surrounding commands. Working hours are approximately Monday – Friday, 0730 – 1615. Work is primarily performed inside the warehouse with occasional exposure to inclement weather.
