Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

While there is no minimum amount of training or experience required, the applicant must have had experience, military or civilian, paid or unpaid, of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, WS-4749-11, Experience refers to being responsible and serving as a supervisor: planning, supervising, and coordination of facilities maintenance, repair. Supervising employees at the journeymen level performing utility systems operation, maintenance mechanic work and providing work direction assuring work assignments are carried out and meeting work schedules. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Work Environment: The work is performed inside and outside with exposure to all kinds of weather. The work that maybe performed in these areas could involve the following type environments; dirty, wet, dusty, greasy and with inadequate lighting, heat, or ventilation. The employee may be subject to cuts, abrasions, burns, broken bones, electrical shock, infections, bites, exposure to inhalation or harmful chemical fumes, irritation of eyes, skin and respiratory tract, and the hazards of operating power tools and equipment. Discomfort is encountered when wearing protective clothing, gloves, or eye goggles. Physical Demands: The work requires office/admin as well as a considerable amount of standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and/or uncomfortable positions. The Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor may work from ladders and scaffolding. When operating equipment, the Supervisor may be under a great deal of strain from constant reaching, bending, turning, and moving of hands, arms, feet, legs, and by the vibration and jerking of the equipment. The incumbent caries, lifts, and handles parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and may occasionally exceed 50 pounds.
