A qualified candidate’s online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band level or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e., NN-03 or GS-13. In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements (IOR), applicants must have specialized experience and/or directly related education in the amounts shown in the professional and scientific qualification standards. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience in expert technical review of documented safety analysis and technical safety requirement documentation and originating new and improved applications and strategies for scientific or engineering concepts, theories, and principles; investigating, evaluating, advising on, and resolving unusual problems, issues, and conditions, in multidisciplinary contexts. Examples of Specialized Experience: Experience as a technical authority and advisor to senior Site Office and Program managers and safety professionals on matters pertaining to the safety authorization basis or safety of operations in nuclear and/or nonnuclear hazardous facilities. Experience with line management responsibility or directly advising authorizing officials. Experience in advanced principles and practices of professional engineering or physical science related to nuclear nonproliferation, counterproliferation, weapons, or nuclear facilities. The incumbent serves as a Nuclear Safety Specialist in the office of the Assistant Manager for Operations and Safety in the Nevada Field Office (NA-NV), leading interdisciplinary teams performing technical reviews of nuclear safety documentation.
