To qualify for this position you must meet the following Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualifications at the GS-11 and/or GS-12 level: Basic Requirement: A. Possess a degree in accounting, auditing; or a degree including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. -OR- B. Have a combination of education and experience. This is defined as at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Your background must also include one of the following: (1) Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;(2) a certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or(3) completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that(a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining;(b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and(c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant’s education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements. GS-11 Minimum Qualifications: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one of the following: A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Conducting audit assignments within a team in accordance with established guidelines and regulations; Analyzing and summarizing audit data; Identifying and reporting on audit discrepancies and/or errors; and Assisting in the preparation of portions of the draft and final audit reports. -OR- B. Have 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree at an accredited college or university in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts to verify education. -OR- C. Have less than one year of specialized experience and less than 3 years of graduate level education as described above that, when combined; equal 100% of the qualification requirement. Note: Only graduate education in excess of the master’s level [generally 36 semester hours] may be used in this calculation. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts to verify education. GS-12 Minimum Qualifications: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Assisting in performing audits and/or reviews for a program in accordance with established guidelines and regulations; Reviewing and assessing financial or program data; Evaluating corrective actions for previously identified deficiencies; and Drafting and presenting final audit reports to leadership.
