Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Plumber ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common tasks in interpreting building plans, blueprints, sketches, and etc. to identify utilities, plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall and proper operation of systems and equipment. I have experience assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil and natural gas distribution systems, swimming pools, and Central Vehicle Wash Facility. I can clear manholes of obstruction, tap main lines, setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, placing hangers for proper level and slope, and determining and installing valves, traps, and unions to ensure proper operation of a variety of systems and equipment. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort – Makes repairs and installations from ladders and safety shoring, to reach parts of systems that are in hard-to-reach places or buried underground. The employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). With the assistance of other employees or weight-lifting devices, employee will occasionally lift and carry items that weight over 23 kilograms (50 pounds). Working Conditions – Work is performed both inside and outside. Employee will be required to make repairs and installations in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty and greasy; and in close quarters such as manholes. Employee is exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, scrapes, burns and infections. Frequently is required to make repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. Employee may be required to wear safety equipment such as, but not limited to, coveralls, ear plugs, safety glasses, hard hat, respirators, gloves and safety shoes.
