You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Possessing a foundational background and understanding of wildland firefighting guidance and standards. Performing project management, leading teams, and problem solving as a team member within a natural resource program area. Assisting in formulating training modules that follow the basic principles of fire operations. Familiar with the principles, methods, practices, and techniques of instructional systems design (ISD) as it relates to adult fire management education. Working in a training program, revising or reviewing training/course materials, aids, devices. -OR- master’s or equivalent degree or two full years (36 semester hours) of graduate level education leading to such a degree. -OR- an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education. For GS-11: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Providing expertise related to wildland firefighting guidance and standards sufficient to facilitate discussions, and provide recommendations on issues, especially as they pertain to developing and disseminating a national interagency (or equivalent) training curriculum. Performing project management, leading teams, and problem solving for a natural resources program area; Formulating training modules that contain decision making and goals that follow the basic principles of fire operations; Applying principles, methods, practices, and techniques of instructional systems design (ISD) as it relates to adult fire management education; Working in a training program, revising and reviewing training/course materials, aids, devices, and evaluating training results. -OR-Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years (54 semester hours) of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. – OR-An equivalent combination of Education and Experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
