The screen out element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision Skill in operating heavy equipment requiring the use of controls, high degree of concentration, good hand, foot, and eye coordination, and landscaping knowledge to assess the proper approach. Skill in welding necessary to properly use acetylene, electric, or MIG welders to weld commonly used metals and to obtain desired penetration, strength, and weld bead dimensions. Skill in applying carpentry, building construction, concrete forming and finishing, painting, and plumbing (including water, gas, and sewage distribution systems) techniques. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles, and familiarity with trade practices to disassemble, repair, reassemble, and test electrical components, and of proper operation of fixtures, wiring, and controls such as light switches, circuit breakers, fuses, relays, and outlets; and to identify various electrical components, types, and sizes of wire, connectors, and plugs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
