NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: -Experience implementing major public information programs designed to provide foreign journalists with access to accurate and reliable information about U.S. foreign policy initiatives. -Experience developing communication strategies/dissemination of information relating to U.S. foreign policy priorities. -Experience researching methods to collect and analyze information that meets the needs of foreign audiences and promotes objective reporting of U.S. foreign policy objectives. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
This position is located in the Bureau of Global Public Affairs, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Media Strategy, Office of Press Operations, USAID Spokesperson Unit (GPA/GM/PRS), is indefinitely detailed to the U.S. Agency for International Development to serve as a press officer for USAID, and is responsible for a broad range of public affairs initiative, engaging the international media, advising Spokesperson and other officials on effective delivery of critical U.S. foreign policy messages.
