Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using airborne flight inspection equipment and specialized test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) to inspect air safety of aircraft operations within national airspace; facilitating the aeronautical evaluation and certification of Air Traffic Service (ATS) units, equipment, and ATS Maintenance Technicians; and experience enforcing actions to correct instances of non-compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Army regulatory guidance.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. OPM Qualifications Standard for Aviation Safety Series, GS-1825 Minimum Eligibility Requirements: 1. Not more than two separate incidents involving Federal aviation regulations violations in the last 5 years; 2. Valid State driver’s license; 3. Fluency in the English language; 4. No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance; and 5. High school diploma or equivalent. Medical Requirements: Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the Aviation Safety Inspector position in a safe and efficient manner, with or without a reasonable accommodation. The minimum medical requirements include the following requirements: 1. Have good distant vision in each eye and be able to read, without strain, printed materials the size of typewritten characters (glasses and contact lenses permitted); 2. Have the ability to hear the conversational voice (hearing aid permitted); and 3. Not have any physical condition that would cause them to be a hazard to themselves or others that would interfere with their ability to fly as passengers in a variety of aircraft.
