Basic Qualifications: Satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master’s degree directly related to counseling psychology is required. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: providing mental or behavioral health counseling to individuals and groups; and planning and implementing continuing counseling and mental health programs and projects. Selective Placement Factor: Must possess and maintain a current, active, valid, fully unrestricted license as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Psychologist. License must be from a U.S State, District of Columbia, commonwealth territory, or jurisdiction. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
