Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have functional experience that demonstrated a mastery of facility/equipment maintenance. Must have knowledge and experience in plumbing, carpentry, and painting trades/occupations. Must have demonstrated the ability to troubleshoot and determine the need for repair and servicing of facilities, utilities, and equipment. Incumbent must be able to read, interpret, and apply building plans specifications and blueprints, must have experience in setting up, adjusting and adapting hand and power tools to accomplish tasks. Experience operating one or more gasoline, diesel or electric powered wheeled vehicles. Must be able to lift, bend, and work in awkward positions both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier with assistance. Requires possession of a valid motor vehicle license. Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). “This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing/or drug use.” Performance Standards: Performance is reviewed on the basis of results achieved, i.e., success of total operations in terms of customer satisfaction and soundness of operations. Ensures that proper maintenance and/or repair of lodging facilities and grounds are accomplished in a timely manner and IAW applicable directives, policies, and procedures. Ensures that fire, safety, and security directives are adhered to. Carries out oral and written instructions in an acceptable manner. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing. Works in a courteous and cooperate manner with guests, co-workers, supervisors and outside agencies. Performs routine duties with little need for supervision or assistance. Implements and maintains an effective internal control system to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse. Keeps supervisors informed of progress and advises supervisors of significant developments that may impact plans, projects, or operations. With few exceptions, operates vehicles in accordance with established procedures and federal, state, and local traffic regulations. Operates the motor vehicle in a manner that minimizes violations due to employee error or negligence.
About the position: This position will be assigned to the Langley Inns at Join Base Langley-Eustis, Hampton, VA. This is a Regular Full-Time position with a guaranteed minimum of 35 hours a week. The primary purpose of this position is to plan and perform facility maintenance duties associated with Langley Inns.
