BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Served as a member of the an executive leadership team, providing critical information, professional clinical expertise, and recommendations for strategic insight and solutions to issues related to the health care environment; Participate in the development of strategic plans; long-range goals, objectives, and strategies to meet the healthcare goals of the organization; Responsibilities for planning, organizing, coordinating, and ensuring clinical ancillary operations; Management of supervisory clinical staff; Maintain and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, governing bodies, and the rules of accrediting organizations; Provide consultations to leadership related to conflicts in jurisdiction, functional responsibilities, need for policy implementation, problem areas, or other urgent issues; Perform program/policy analysis; submit recommendations for program and/or policy change/modifications in accordance with all policy, directives, and program implications regulatory requirements. Review and resolve grievances, employee complaints, make decisions related to disciplinary action(s). Quality Ranking Factor: The following is a quality ranking factor and is not part of the Minimum Qualification for this position: Advanced degree (such as an MBA or MPH) OR possess equivalent experience in administration/planning AND a degree as a healthcare professional? Selective Placement Factor: Federal Acquisition Certification for Contracting Officer’s Representative (FAC-COR) Level I. Experience with multi-million contracts completing and assisting in evaluations of performance based contracts. Condition of Employment: COR Level II will be attained within 1 year of employment. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
This position is located at the Whiteriver Service Unit, Whiteriver, AZ. The Chief Professional Officer has supervisory and managerial responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling overall clinical operations through subordinate supervisory staff members within the departments of Social Services, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Diagnostic Medical Imaging Services, Dietary/Community Nutrition, Health Information Management, Clinical Applications and Rehabilitative Services.
