INTERDISCIPLINARY COMMUNITY PLANNER/ARCHITECT/ENGINEER (GENERAL/CIVIL/INDUSTRIAL)

Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command - Department of the Navy

In addition to the basic requirements of this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying planning concepts, principals, and practices applicable to the full range of duties concerned with the planning of facilities such as office buildings, heating plants, industrial shops, utilities and recreational facilities normally found on military installations; 2) Performing planning functions, mastery of planning principles related to land use planning, as well as knowledge of technically related fields, such as real estate, housing, engineering, legal concepts, and environmental management; 3) Preparing planning project documentation including detailed project description, facility study, cost estimate, site approval, and environmental assessment; 4) Coordinating with leadership and staff among various mission commands, installations, departments, tenant commands, support commands, headquarters, and other military services to help resolve issues that occur outside Navy boundaries that could impact Navy property, mission and operations; 5) Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships while applying strong communications skills (oral and written) to articulate ideas and issues in a clear, concise and impartial manner; and 6) Applying technical expertise with personnel in urban and regional planning, engineering, architecture, landscape design, environmental, transportation, and communications to carry out a successful facilities program.
