MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Specialized Experience for GS-5 – recognizing and responding appropriately to deviations from normal behavior, identify, problematic behaviors, and reporting to treatment team, serve as a group leader in community or residential recreation or training programs, and/or perform as a counselor in a youth summer camp. Specialized Experience for GS-6 – providing client services in at least one of the fields, such as psychology, rehabilitation, or social work, including support for families; ability to assist clients in identifying and obtaining available benefits and social and community services; ability to assist social workers with developing, organizing, and conducting programs to prevent and resolve problems relevant to substance abuse, human relationships, rehabilitation, or dependent care. Specialized Experience for GS-7 – planning and carrying out the successive steps and handling behavioral problems in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted practices within the interdisciplinary health care team; interact with psychologists, nurses, social workers, community resources, residents and/or their families; facilitate group activities; recognize and respond appropriately to deviations from normal behavior; provide non-professional counseling services, including behavioral issues associated with substance use and mental health disorders in adolescents.
The purpose of the position is to supervise and deliver quality behavioral health services and care to youth ages 12 to 17 years of age with substance use/chemical dependency/co-occurring problems. Serves actively and constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, supports the organization and program philosophy of care; ensure the safety and well-being of each resident; provides direct psychological services to the adolescents. Reports to Supervisory Resident Assistant.
