Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three (3) or fewer errors. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical and administrative support functions in a medical facility such as maintaining health records. answering and directing phone calls, scheduling medical appointments, screening patients to determine eligibility, and operating office automation software to input patient demographics. OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health Administration, or related fields such as Business or Public Administration with course work in Healthcare Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. About the Position: The incumbent serves as Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation) over a group of employees performing medical clerk, receptionist, record keeping, files management, office automation, and miscellaneous clerical duties in a large Womack Army Medical Center – Department of Surgery. The clinic provides services in a variety of medical specialties.
