SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Incumbent is often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Incumbent frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 70 pounds. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty or poorly lighted. Is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls and injury from falling stock or material handling equipment. May be exposed to dirt, dust, grease and solvents and to high noise levels in mechanized work areas. Work requires the wearing of steel-toed shoes, and may require special protective gloves, jackets or aprons.
This position is located at the Menlo Park Division, VA Palo Alto Healthcare System, performing warehouse work that involves receiving, storing, and shipping a variety of subsistence and supplies. The incumbent undertakes the full spectrum of warehouse functions and may serve as the senior nonsupervisory worker of the the warehouse. The incumbent also serves as a relief for WG-6 cooks as needed.
