Paralegal Specialist

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing the legal impact of legislative developments and administrative/judicial decisions; conducting research for the preparation of legal opinions; and communicating of the issues and legal research and preparing legal documents. Examples of specialized experience includes duties such as: 1) Using electronic databases such as LEXIS, WESTLAW, and VTA to perform legal research; 2) Interpreting and applying technical material, rules, regulations, and instructions to a given situation; 3) Performing substantive legal analysis, communicating the issue(s), and applying the legal research in clear and concise oral and written form; 4) Assist with interviewing clients/witnesses and preparing summary interview reports for attorney’s review; 5) Applying knowledge of legal adjudicative processes and timelines to provide assistance. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing the legal impact of legislative developments and administrative/judicial decisions; conducting research for the preparation of legal opinions; performing substantive legal analysis; communicating of the issues and legal research and preparing legal documents. Examples of specialized experience includes duties such as: 1) Reviewing legal case materials to become familiar with questions under consideration; 2) Interviewing potential witnesses and prepares summary interview reports for the attorney’s review; 3) Using a case management system, database, or other software to manage cases, organize files, and track clients and deadlines; 4) Preparing and organizing case exhibits; 5) Overseeing or administering legal office operations that ensure compliance with established guidelines and requirements; 6) Using electronic databases such as LEXIS or WESTLAW to perform legal research.
