STUDENT TRAINEE (CONTRACTING)

**THIS IS A YEAR-ROUND INTERNSHIP AND NOT SEASONAL ** Clarification: An appointment under a Pathways Internship is intended to continue through completion of education and work requirements. Pathways Interns qualify based on their educational achievements. For the GS-02 grade level: Completion of a High school diploma or equivalent. For the GS-03 grade level: Completion of 1 full academic year of post high school study. For the GS-04 grade level: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or associate’s degree. -Initial review of applicants will occur 7 days after the announcement opens. -Additional reviews of applicants will occur at the 30 and 60 day cutoff and the closing date of the announcement. Upon successful completion of their academic program and the internship program, interns may be converted to a term or permanent position in the competitive service consistent with agency needs, academic achievement, and demonstrated potential. Conversion potntial for this opportunity is a GS -1102- 5/7/9 up to the full performance level of GS 9. However, future budgetary events, hiring restrictions, conversion caps, or other events may preclude the conversion or conversion to a position with the full potential performance level. Individuals converted to a position in the competitive service may be subjected to participation in an agency formal development program. To be eligible for conversion: Meet any agency-specific requirements specified in the Participant’s Agreement. Demonstrate successful job performance that results in a rating of record of at least Fully successful and a recommendation for conversion by the first level supervisor. Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Program while enrolled as a half- or full-time degree- or certificate-seeking student; Complete a course of academic study/degree conferred, at a qualifying educational institution conferring a diploma, certificate or degree Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the intern will be converted; Receive a favorable recommendation by supervisor Minimum 2.5 GPA
