Basic Education Requirement: In order to meet the Basic Requirement for a Pharmacologist, GS-0405, you must possess a bachelor’s (or graduate) degree with a major in an appropriate biological, medical, veterinary, or physical science, or in pharmacy that included at least 30 semester hours in chemistry and physiology and 12 semester hours in pharmacology. Additional Specialized Experience Requirement: In addition, in order to qualify for a Pharmacologist position at the GS-14 level, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: coordinating and evaluating safety testing of biopharmaceutical agents used in multiple research studies; evaluating proposed research protocols for appropriateness of study design and use of pharmaceutical information; developing pharmacokinetic study design initiatives; assisting in the preparation of contract solicitations for pharmacology studies; and participating in the review and award phases of contracting.
