Failure to meet this screen out element will result in an ineligible rating: Ability to do the work of a journeyman electrician in high voltage power systems (69KV and higher) to include the ability to install, construct, commission, maintain, and repair equipment in high voltage switchyards, substations, communication facilities and power operations centers independently without more than normal supervision. Working Conditions: The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress, such as working with high-voltage electrical equipment (.001 volts to 161,000 volts as general criteria), extreme outdoor weather conditions, and emergency situations at all hours of the day and any day, and foreign electrical systems. The employee must apply a wide range of safety and other precautions. Physical Effort: The work requires physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurrent bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; and recurrent lifting of moderately heavy items, such as test instruments, compression tools, and various winch lines. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.
This position is part of the Southwestern Power Administration, Maintenance Organization. The incumbent is a High Voltage Electrician Journeyman. **This is not a remote position. The selectee will be required to be physically present at one of the duty location(s) identified.**
