Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic Leader duties such as: Providing technical assistance to equipment and/or heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) mechanics, performing site surveys on facilities, and following blueprints to determine appropriate voltage on electronic systems. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain, for the duration of employment in this position, a valid Universal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification for refrigerant use. (Note: You must upload a copy of your certification with your application.) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools – Electronics Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Theory of Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Use of Test Equipment: Electronics PHYSICAL EFFORT: Light physical effort is required in reaching, bending, turning or moving hands, arms, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls for vehicles. Handles and carries tools, equipment, and testing equipment usually weighing no more than 50 pounds. Incumbent is required to stoop, stretch, bend, kneel, and work in uncomfortable positions to reach parts of the system when modifying/adjusting field devices and work in a sitting position when performing office duties for extended periods of time. Occasionally, climbing and working in high places may be required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed inside in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. May work in drafty attic spaces and cramped areas with low overhead or sudden temperature changes when maintaining or troubleshooting field devices or during field surveys. Safety glasses, safety shoes, and ear plugs are issued or are available. Additional specialized safety equipment is provided as required.
