This position has a Selective Placement Factor for the GS-13 grade level that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any state in the U.S., the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico is required. * NOTE: You must submit a copy of your current registration with your application to be considered for this position* GS-13: In addition to the Basic Education Requirements and SPF for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Mechanical design and evaluation of HVAC Systems, Plumbing, Control Systems, Design and Testing. 2) Facility engineering and design support including quality control, engineering design, and construction management, scoping and fee proposals, and negotiations. 3) Design Management, Project planning, work assignment, budget tracking, specifications, cost estimates and project quality control of facilities. 4) Construction Support making recommendations, deviations, changes when necessary. 5) Leading and consulting in depth knowledge to resolve issues related to engineering design. You will serve as a Mechanical Engineer within the Planning, Design and Construction Directorate of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. This is a developmental position with a full performance level of GS-13. Applications will be accepted at the GS-12 and GS-13 grade levels.
