In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following by the closing date of this vacancy announcement. While a specific length of time and experience is not required for most Wage Grade positions, you must show through experience and training that you possess the best qualified level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of this position. Qualifying Experience for this position includes: Reads and follows manufacturers diagrams and instructions for repairing boats and trailers; uses testing equipment and tools to locate and repair wiring related issues; welds and fabricates parts to modify boats and equipment to meet needs; replaces damaged or worn parts on boats, trailers, small engines, outboard engines, and related equipment; Performs maintenance work to keep all equipment in a reliable and ready state of operation; tows and backs trailers and securing loads. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. Working Conditions: Work is often performed outside where the incumbent will be required to tolerate cold, wet, or hot weather, or to work within a shop where ventilation, heating or cooling equipment can be limited. The incumbent may encounter biting/stinging insects, rodents, and other pests. Incumbent should also expect to spend long hours driving. Work will often take place on water where escape from the weather and sea spray cannot be avoided. Physical Effort: Work requires active physical effort including extensive walking, bending, stooping, climbing, working from boats, and pushing or pulling heavy equipment. Heavy lifting may also be required at times.
This position is located in the Soil and Plant Science Division, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The position provides equipment repair and maintenance support to pontoon boats with outboard engines and vibracore machines, bay boats, airboats, Jon boats, utility trailers, refrigerated trailers, and other related and similar paraphernalia. Offering a $20,000 incentive for the position split out for 3 years.
